Increased competition in the voice market

The competition and the market complexity of trading and exchanging international telephone calls have both grown tremendously since the deregulation of the telecom market. Today, the global telephone and IP networks handle millions and millions of international calls every day and the market is experiencing a yearly growth of 10 – 15 percent.

Trading of international telephone calls between telecom carriers is a complex business where the carriers continuously exchange information and make deals while considering numerous commercial and technical parameters. Price is obviously one of the key decision factors, but time of day, quality of service, network and capacity constraints and a raft of other parameters also have to be considered.

Moreover, the entry of fast-moving players is changing the market landscape. The need for efficient and easy-to-use system support is increasing and is expected to accelerate even further as telecom carriers are looking at streamlining operations and differentiating themselves from their competitors.
